George, Iowa Eugene DeBoer, age 72 of George, IA died Monday November 21, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 23rd at Bethel Reformed Church of rural Ellsworth with Rev. Matt Miller, officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George. Visitation will be Tuesday November 22 from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Eugene DeBoer was born March 4, 1939 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Henry and Tena (Timmer) DeBoer. He was raised on a farm east of Rock Rapids and attended country school. After his education he helped his parents and remained on the family farm. Eugene was united in marriage to Donna Ann Dietz at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, Iowa. Together they lived most of their life on the family farm, milking cows, raising sheep, hogs and dogs. In 1999 Eugene retired from farming and they moved to a home in George, IA. Through the years Eugene enjoyed going to sale barns in the area, daily coffee with friends, and weekly outings with the burger bunch . He also enjoyed playing cards and square dancing. Eugene was very fond of his pets, especially his dog, Wookie . Eugene was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church and belonged to the Bethel Fellowship. After many years battling health issues, Eugene died this past Monday, November 21, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Ann DeBoer of George, IA; three children, Cordell (Rochelle) DeBoer of Rock Rapids, IA, Kelly Cuperus (and special friend, Dusty Dreesman) of Rock Rapids, IA and Troy (Karen) DeBoer of Adrian, MN; seven grandchildren, Tim, Nate and Alyssa DeBoer, Brian and Kayla Cuperus, and Kassanna and Mitchell DeBoer; and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Tena DeBoer.
