NOTICE: Steen, MN Harold Wissink, age 100 of Steen, MN died Wed., Dec. 14th, 2011 at Park View Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth, MN. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Sat., Dec. 17th at Steen Reformed Church in Steen, MN with Rev. Dan Kuik officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery of Steen. Visitation will be Fri., Dec. 16th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills, MN. Harold John Wissink was born March 17, 1911 in Sioux Center, IA to Jake and Anna (Van Burkum) Wissink. At the age of 3 he moved with his family to the Steen area where he grew up. He received his education in Hills where he graduated from high school in 1929. After graduation he farmed in partnership with Ben Hoogeveen on a farm south of Hills. In 1936 he was united in marriage to Ella Terpstra and continued farming south of Hills. In 1947 he moved to a farm north of Steen and lived there until he retired in 1974 and moved into Steen. After retirement he continued to help with the farm work for area farmers. Harold lived in the Poplar Creeks Assisted Living in Luverne, MN for 1 year and then entered Parkview Manor in July of 2005. He was a lifelong member of Steen Reformed Church where he served as Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. In 1990 he received the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award of Rock County. Harold enjoyed playing ball, fishing and playing cards with his friends. He is survived by one daughter, Mavis (William) De Beer of Adrian, MN; a daughter-in-law, Willma Wissink of Canton, SD; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 8 great great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Ella; son, Bob; brother, Jim; and sisters, Mildred and Joan.
