Little Rock, Iowa Mattie Dieken age 93, of Little Rock Iowa, died Sunday, November 18, 2007 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 21st, at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock with Pastor Scott Burdsall officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery of Little Rock. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 20th, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley. Mattie Helen Dieken was born on March 8, 1914 in Little Rock, the daughter of Jake and Jennie (Peters) Christians. She grew up north of Little Rock and attended country school there. On February 8, 1934, Mattie was united in marriage to John Dieken at the First Presbyterian Parsonage in Little Rock. The couple farmed in the Little Rock, Rock Rapids and Ellsworth areas, then moved into Little Rock on December 18, 1982. Mattie was a devoted wife and worked very hard on their farm. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, where she was a member of the Womens Circle. On Sunday, November 18, 2007, Mattie died at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley at the age of ninety-three. Mattie is survived by her husband of seventy-three and a half years, John Dieken of Little Rock; three children, Marlyn (wife Connie) Dieken of Waverly, IA, Don (wife Marie) Dieken of Little Rock and Diann (husband Gerald) Meendering of Storm Lake, IA; six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Harold, Lloyd and Junior Christians; one sister, Margaret Venenga; and one granddaughter, Debbie Dieken in infancy.
