Sibley, Iowa Edward Bud Buscherfeld, age 83 of Sibley, Iowa, formerly of Whittemore, IA passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 16th at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley, Iowa, with Fr. Tim Hogan officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 PM, Tuesday afternoon at St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery in Whittemore, IA. Visitation will be Monday, October 15th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. There will be a Rosary at 5:00 PM and a Vigil service at 7:30 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home Monday evening. Edward A. Bud Buscherfeld was born September 2, 1929 at the family farm northeast of Rodman, IA. He attended the Presentation Academy in Whittemore, IA, through the 8th grade and then left to do the day to day work on the family farm. In 1952 Bud entered the United States Army where he served in Germany. He received his honorable discharge in 1954 and returned home to the farm. On May 4, 1954 Bud was united in marriage to Norma Jean Howard. The couple lived in Emmetsburg, IA for a year, before moving to Whittemore, IA. He started working for AMPI and through the years worked his way up into managerial responsibilities. In August of 1982 Bud was transferred to the Sibley, IA AMPI location where he remained until he retired in 1992. After three years of retirement, he began working at Sibley Nursing & Rehab Center for a total of 14 years. He retired this past July. He was a past member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Whittemore, IA, where he was active with the Holy Name Society Mens Group, and present member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley, IA. He was a member of the Seely-Walsh American Legion Post #425 in Whittemore, IA and also very active with other community activities through the years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, shooting trap, bowling, and was an avid reading and sports fan. He also enjoyed handyman work and especially spending time with his immediate family. His family will always cherish the time they had at the past family reunion over the Labor Day weekend in Whittemore. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Norma Buscherfeld of Sibley, IA; six children, Linda (Paul) Johnson of Issaquah, WA, Michael (Beth) Buscherfeld of Whittemore, IA, Ann Buscherfeld of Issaquah, WA, Mary Buscherfeld of Spirit Lake, IA, Mark (Kriss) Buscherfeld of Eau Claire, WI, and David Buscherfeld of Durand, WI; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Kathryn Spurgeon of Otho, IA, Margaret Lewis and Evelyn (Charles) Donner, both of Fort Dodge, IA; Imelda Goman of Carlsbad, NM and Theresa Stella of Braintree, MA; a brother, John Buscherfeld of Wallaston, MA; and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Anna (Elbert) Buscherfeld; a son, Steven Buscherfeld; an infant sister, Mary Buscherfeld; and a brother, James Buscherfeld.
