Rock Rapids, Iowa Ruth Hopmann, age 78, of Rock Rapids, IA, died Thursday, June 14th, 2012 at Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehab in Rock Rapids. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 18th, 2012 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Mark Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Sunday, June 17th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with the family present 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Ruth Violet Hopmann was born April 3, 1934 to Fred and Amanda (Clausing) Lienemann at Garfield Township near Doon, Iowa. She was baptized on May 20, 1934 at the Bethelehem Lutheran Church at Lakewood, Iowa, by Rev. G Hoelcher and confirmed into the Lutheran faith on April 14, 1946 at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, IA by Rev. Alfred Christianson. She lived and worked on the family farm near Rock Rapids. She also worked for many different families in their homes. She married Henry Hopmann on June 3, 1966 at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids by Rev. Paul Lemke. Together they lived at Hawarden, IA for two years before moving to Sioux City, IA. They moved back to Rock Rapids in 1982. Ruth enjoyed traveling and fishing. She volunteered by delivering Dinner Date meals to different towns and Meals on Wheels in Rock Rapids. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Peace Ladies Aid, American Legion Auxiliary Post 103 in Rock Rapids, and the Golden Age Club. She held and enjoyed holding offices in all the organizations and helping with other duties. Ruth is survived by a sister, Lois Lienemann of Rock Rapids, IA; nieces and nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Amanda Lienemann; and husband, Henry Hopmann.
