Esther Josephine Sales

Sibley, IA Esther Sales, age 93 of Sibley, IA died Friday, December 29, 2006 at Hays, KS. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA. The burial will take place at 3:00 PM, Wednesday in the St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery near Orland, SD. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Walton-Roste Funeral Home of Sibley. Esther Josephine Strom was born on September 19, 1913 on a farm in Orland Township, near Madison, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Peter C. and Petronella (Hanson) Strom. She was the youngest daughter of six children. She grew up in Lake County, South Dakota and attended Orland High School. Esther was united in marriage to Fred D. Sales on September 26, 1930. They moved to Sibley from Wentworth, SD in 1940, where she was a homemaker and caregiver for her family. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sibley. Those left to cherish her memories are her three children: John (Joyce) Sales of Coralville, IA, Norinne (Donald) Petersen of Hays, KS and Fred (Marilyn) Sales of West Branch, IA, 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
