Colleen Sweet

Rock Rapids, IA Colleen Sweet, age 64 of Rock Rapids, IA died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, Jan. 21st at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Colleen Sweet was born March 27, 1946 in Seattle, Washington, The daughter of Alfred and Fay (Cox) Federico. She was raised in Huntington Beach, CA. After graduating high school in 1965, she joined the Army, serving in Okinawa during the Vietnam War, rising to the rank of Corporal. After her time in the service she worked in the finance field. In 1983 she met her future husband, Chuck Sweet. They were married in 1984. In 1996 she and her husband followed her parents to Rock Rapids. A few months later she lost her husband to a sudden heart attack. In 1997 she moved in with her brother, Jim and his family and then later at Rose Wood Apartments in Rock Rapids. Due to poor health she moved into Lyon Manor Nursing Home in Rock Rapids. She died this past Monday, January 17, 2011 from complication from pneumonia and pancreatic Cancer. Survivors include her mother, Fay Federico; brother, Jim Federico, both of Rock Rapids, IA; two sisters, Dolores Wolfswinkel of Wheatland, CA and Maria Sweidan of Ontario, CA; four nieces, Candyce Sweidan of Ontario, CA, Cheyanne Ledford of Katy, Texas, Allison Wolfswinkel of CA, and Lacey Ackerman of Brandon, SD; two nephews, Jimmy and Steven Federico of Rock Rapids, IA. She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Federico and her husband, Chuck Sweet. In lieu of flowers, Colleens family would like their friends to donate to their favorite charity.
