Rock Rapids, IA Louis N. Timmerman, age 80 of Rock Rapids, IA, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Park View Nursing Home in Ellsworth, MN. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, IA. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to the hour of service at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, IA. Louis Timmerman was born August, 18, 1929 in Rock Rapids the son of Richard and Etta (Jurrens) Timmerman. He was raised in the Rock Rapids area and attended Rock Rapids schools. He entered the military on October 7, 1950 and served in the Korean War. While in Korea he served as a Combat Construction Specialist with Company B - 32nd Engineers Battalion. He was decorated with the Korean Service Medal and 2 Bronze Camp Stars. Upon returning to Rock Rapids he worked as a painter and handyman occasionally mowing lawns. He was a simple man who enjoyed simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. This past Sunday, June 20th, Louis passed away at the Park View Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth, MN at the age of 80. Louis is survived by his brother, Ubbe Timmerman of Ellsworth, MN; sister-in-law, Marlys (LeRoy) Jones of Rock Rapids, IA; nieces and nephews and their families, Ricky (Pat) Timmerman of Colo, IA, Wayne (Julie) Timmerman Clay Center, KS, Paul (Gail) Timmerman of Brewster, MN, James (Wendy) Timmerman of Reading, MN, Susan (Brad) Hinsch of George, IA, Bonnie (Richard) Hybertson of Beresford, SD, Alan Timmerman of Rock Rapids, IA, Diane Evans of Olympia, WA, and Pam (Jim) De Clements of Tacoma, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; Richard and Etta Timmerman; brothers, William and Benny; sister, Johanna Ackerman; sisters-in-law, Gladys Timmerman and Annie Timmerman; brother-in-law, Robert Ackerman.
