Frances Moser was born March 18, 1919 in Allison Township, Lyon County, Iowa to James E. and Mabel (Curley) Cunningham. She received her education and graduated from Lester High School. Frances was united in marriage to Harry N. (Bud) Moser December 6, 1937 in Flandreau, SD. The couple made their home in Elgin, IL for the first few years until returning to Iowa in 1942 to farm near Alvord. Three children were born to this union, Terry, Cindy and Paul. Frances was a lifelong member of the Lester Methodist Church where she was very active in all areas of the ministry and served as church secretary for many years. She and her husband retired from farming and moved to Lester in 1980. Frances husband Harry passed away in 1985 ending their marriage of 42 years. Frances loved her home. She felt most content in northwest Iowa. Whenever she traveled, she was always anxious to return home to community, family and friends. She loved flowers and always had beautiful plants in and around her home. She was an avid reader, until she could no longer continue due to failing eyesight. Community was also very important to Frances. She was one of the main contributors to the Lester Centennial book that was published in 1989, documenting and archiving for future generations the history of the area she held so dear. But most of all Frances loved her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will treasure many fond memories of her. She will be greatly missed. In 2004 Frances moved from Lester to Premier Estates in Rock Rapids. She enjoyed her years at Premier and the new friends and community she found there. In 2006 Frances moved to the Rock Rapids Health Centre where she passed away this past Friday at the age of 89. Frances is survived by one daughter, Cindy (Richard) McCarty of Raleigh, NC; and two sons, Paul (Rebecca) Moser of Joplin, MO and Terry (Martha) Moser of Ashton, IA; Eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mabel Cunningham; husband, Harry (Bud) Moser, three sisters, Leota Campbell, Gladyce Moser and Gertrude Cunningham; two brothers, James Cunningham and Floyd Cunningham. Blessed be her memory.
