On June 7, 2009 Irene Fannie Veenker went to her heavenly home at the age of 96. She was living at Holmes Sweet Home in Auburn, King, Washington at the time of her passing. Graveside services at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, Lyon, Iowa on July 3, 2009, at 9:00 am with Rev. Paul Fischer officiating. Irene Fannie Veenker was born October 23, 1912 on a farm south of George, Lyon, Iowa, to Ralph Calvin and Fannie Sarah Lucy (Casjens) Veenker. Irene was the 7th of 9 children. The family moved into town after her father passed away. She went to school in George, Lyon, Iowa and graduated in 1931. In 1943 she moved to Seattle, King, Washington to work as a buyer for the Boeing Company. She retired from Boeing in Auburn, King, Washington in 1976. Since that time she enjoyed being home growing her beautiful roses, playing her piano, and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of Grace Community Church in Auburn, King, Washington. Left to cherish her memory are: a sister-in-law Betty (Harold) Veenker of LosAltos, California, many nephews, nieces and special friends Phil and Nancy Latvala. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Ralph, Carl, Elmer, Harold and sisters: Grace, Lillian, Mae, Rose, 5 nephews and a niece.
