Little Rock, IA Frances Groen, age 86 of Little Rock, IA died Friday, June 27, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Society of George. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, June 30th at Hope Reformed Church of George, IA with Rev. David Vander Laan, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, June 29th from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Frances Mae Groen was born May 3, 1922 to Henry and Abbie (Sprock) Krull at the family farm near George, Iowa. She attended Liberal #5 country school and graduated from George High School in 1940. After school she remained living with her family and helped with the day to day operation of the farm. On December 1, 1943 she was united in marriage to George Orval Groen. The couple farmed their entire working lives on a farm south east of Little Rock, IA. In 1970, after 27 years of marriage, her husband, George died. Frances remained living on the farm and helping the family with the farming chores. She also began working outside of the house at various places, such as K-Products in Rock Rapids, IA, Sathers Candies in Round Lake, MN, and Merrill Pioneer Hospital where she worked for many years in the laundry department. In 1976 Frances moved to a home in Little Rock. In 1995 Frances retired from the hospital due to health complications. In April of 2008 Frances became a resident at Good Samaritan Society of George, IA, where she remained until this past Friday, June 27, 2008 where she died at the age of 86. She was a lifelong member of Hope Reformed Church, where she served many years as a teacher for Sunday school and active with the Ladies Circle. She loved singing with her sister Betty and enjoyed playing piano, crocheting and following her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildrens activities. Along with fond memories left to cherish, Frances also left behind many blankets, afghans and embroidered kitchen towels for each of her family members. She will live in their hearts forever. Frances is survived by two children, David (wife Carol) Groen of Little Rock, IA, and Kristin Grave of George, IA; a daughter-in-law, Sandi Groen of Little Rock, IA; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iona Krull and Betty Gronewold, both of George, IA; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Krull of Rock Rapids, IA, Phyllis Krull of Orange City, IA,Henrietta Krull of George, IA and Evelyn Olson of Rock Rapids, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Abbie Krull; loving husband, George, Groen; a son, Gerald Groen; a great-granddaughter, Kamden Fisher; three sisters, Grace Klaahsen, Sena Krull and Caroline Gruis; six brothers, Weert Krull, Henry Krull, Fred Krull, Ivan Krull, Alvin Krull and Harold Krull.
