Rock Rapids, IA David Dammer, Sr. age 53, of Rock Rapids, IA died Sunday, September 24, 2006, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, with Rev. Anita Bane, officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. David Nolan Dammer was born on November 8, 1952 in Adrian, Minnesota, the son of Pete and Marie (Herding) Dammer. Dave was raised on the family farm near Little Rock, IA and attended school at the Little Rock Community Schools until his family moved to Rock Rapids, IA, where he continued at Central Lyon Community School. After school Dave moved to Huron, SD where he worked at the a packing plant for a few years. He moved back to Iowa and began working at Lyon County Coop in Rock Rapids and worked there for 19 years. On October 12, 1974, Dave was united in marriage to Glo Hall at Luverne, MN. Dave continued to work and live in Rock Rapids where their union was blessed with two sons. In 1988 he bought his first Semi truck which has become Double D Trucking Inc. Work and family came before anything else with Dave, and as a family they would work together cleaning and preparing his truck for his next run. In 1998, Daves sons would also begin their career in trucking. Dave was especially fond of his two grandsons, Cody and Jackson. Daves family will best remember him for his love and concern for his wife, sons, and grandsons. He survived by his wife of 31 years, Glo Dammer of Rock Rapids, IA; two sons, David Wayne Dammer, Jr. and his wife, Jackie of Inwood, IA, and Daniel Nolan Dammer of Rock Rapids, IA; two grandsons, Cody and Jackson Dammer; his mother, Marie Dammer of Rock Rapids, IA; two sisters, Bev Eilertson and her husband, Eldie of Huron, SD, and Phyllis Rogers and her husband Larry, of Worthington, MN, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Pete Dammer in August of 2004.
