Burdell Schneidermann

Little Rock, Iowa Burdell Schneidermann age 72 of Little Rock, IA died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at his residence near Little Rock. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at First Baptist Church of George, IA, with Rev. Steve May officiating. Burial will follow at the First Baptist Church Cemetery of George. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19th from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with family present from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at First Baptist Church of George. Burdell Lee Schneidermann was born May 20, 1940 on the family farm near George, IA to John and Bertha (Stubbe) Schneidermann. Burdell attended country school 1 mile west of his childhood home, graduated an Iowa I honor roll student. He graduated in 1958 from George High School. In the summer of 1958 Burdell joined the United States National Guard and served several years before being honorably discharged. On October 5, 1962 he was united in marriage to Janice DeJong at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George with Rev. George Buchin officiating. The couple made their home on an acreage southwest of Little Rock. From 1962 until 1966 Burdell worked at Bennys Phillips 66 on Hwy 9 near Little Rock. He then went to work as manager of the Little Rock Ready Mix Plant from the years 1966 until 1973. During this same time, he and his wife Janice owned and operated the Little Rock Drive-in and in 1969 Burdell went to work for the United States Postal Service where he continued to work for the next 39 years. He and his wife began farming in 1969 on his childhood farm and also operated their farm just west of Little Rock where they have lived since 1970. Burdell loved his wife and family very much and he will be greatly missed. He was a hard worker and a man with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed raising his cattle, coin collecting, fishing and a good cup of coffee. He had a quiet but strong faith and enjoyed reading the Bible. Burdell is survived by his wife, Janice Schneidermann of Little Rock; sons, Scott (Debbie) Schneidermann and their children Breanna, Jordan, and Jared all of Brooklyn Park, MN; and Brad (Sharon) Schneidermann and their children Brenan and Ryan, all of Inwood, IA; brothers, Harlan Schneidermann of Worthington, MN and Kenneth Schneidermann of Marion, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister; brothers, Kriene, Bernard, Edwin, John; and sisters, Tressa, Harriet and Helen. In lieu of flowers, family wishes Memorials be directed to Sanford Hospice Lyon County.
