Hull, Iowa Robert Bob Dickmann, age 92 of Hull, IA died Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center of George. Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 29th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hull, IA, with Rev. John Riggle officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 28th from 2 " 8 PM, with the family present from 6 " 8 PM at Roste Funeral Home of George. Robert Bob William Dickmann was born May 16, 1915, at Hull, IA the son of Charles and Anna (Fick) Dickmann. Bob grew up on a farm in Wheeler Township, in Lyon County Iowa, where he attended country school. Bob served his country in the United States Army from 1941 thru 1946, during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He held the rank of Tech Sergeant and was awarded two purple hearts and a bronze star. Upon his honorable discharge, Bob returned home to Iowa. On December 31, 1947, Bob was united in marriage to Mildred Hansmann at George, Iowa. They made their home on the family farm from 1947 until 1977. From 1977 until 2002, Bob and Mildred lived in Rock Rapids and in 2002 they moved to the Colony Apartments in Hull, IA. Bob enjoyed farming, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing cards and drinking coffee with his buddies. He always put others first and he will be remembered as a wise compassionate man. Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church rural Hull, IA, where he served on the church council and was a past member of the Brotherhood. He was also a member of the Jack Sauter American Legion, Post 404 of George. Bob was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He and Mildred spent 20 years wintering in Texas and traveling to various places in the United States to visit family and also to attend some 6th Division Army reunions. On September 24, 2007, Bob became a resident of the George Good Samaritan Center where he died the next day, September 25, 2007, at the age of ninety-two years, four months and nine days. He is survived by his wife, Mildred of fifty-nine years of Hull, IA; their children, Darwyn and his wife, Donna Dickmann of Hull, IA; Mark and his wife, Ruth Dickmann of George, IA; and Alana and her husband, Jim Heinricy of Colman, SD; along with his six grandchildren, Justin (Nancy), Leah and Ashley; Darby Dickmann; Adam and Kari Heinricy; and three great grandchildren, Carter and Elijah Dickmann and Ashton Gierhan; one brother, Clarence (Skipper) Dickmann of Boyden, IA and one sister, Mildred (Bill) Zenk of Boyden, IA. Bob was preceded in death by an infant daughter and an infant son; his parents, Charles and Anna; two brothers, Alfred and Ted; and two sisters-in-law, Elsie and Frances. Memorials may be directed to the Sioux Center Hospice Program or the American Cancer Society.
