Nadene Avis Pettengill

Rock Rapids, IA Nadene A. Pettengill, age 94 of Rock Rapids, IA died Friday, October 17, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. There will be no services. Nadene Avis Pettengill was born in Wilmont, Minnesota, to Archibald and Abbie Campbell. The family moved to Mankato, Minnesota. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, she enlisted in the Navy during WWII. She served as the head of a parts department and was discharged as a LT J.G. On October 27, 1946, she married Roscoe "Jigger" Pettengill. They resided in Rock Rapids their entire life, and worked together in the family business. Nadene served on numerous state, county, and city boards. Her passion was history, and she spent many hours researching historical events. She spent the last years assisting the areas involvement with establishing a National Park at Blood Run. Nadene is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jigger Pettengill; their children, Pete (Von) Pettengill, Rock Rapids, IA and Leslie Pettengill, Rock Rapids, IA; two granddaughters and six great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Edward Sindt, Rock Rapids, IA; one sister-in-law, Jodie McKay, Des Moines, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
