Esther M. Moet, age 92 of Ocheyedan, IA died Friday, October 24, 2014 at Country View Manor Nursing Home in Sibley, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28th at Trinity Lutheran Church of Sibley, IA, with Rev. Barb Kopperud officiating. Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 27th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Esther Mary Helmers Moet was born on October 18, 1922 in Cloverdale, Iowa to Hio and Anna (Freeseman) Helmers. She grew up on the family farm near Sibley with one sister and five brothers. She married Wayne Moet on June 8, 1952, at Camp Gordon, Georgia. They lived and farmed near Allendorf, Iowa for 60 years, raising six children. She was a life-long, active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA. Esther will be remembered by all who knew her for her kind and compassionate heart. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wayne Moet of Ocheyedan, IA; six children, Ruth of LaVista, NE, Paul (Vern Becker) of The Woodlands, TX, Dona (Wade Ellerbroek) of Sibley, IA, Lisa (Lionel Brown) of Castle Rock, CO, Mary of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Gary (Amy Kruger) of North Liberty, IA; four grandchildren, Jim Ellerbroek (Angie) of Littleton, CO; Jennifer (Jeff Goodman) of Omaha, NE, Tim Ellerbroek of Sibley, IA, and Michael Bachtel of Cedar Rapids, IA; three great-grandchildren, Reece Ellerbroek, Jackson and Sydney Goodman; one brother, Lornie Helmers (Jeanne) of Ashton, IA; five sisters-in-law, Helen Manning of Maquoketa, IA, Verna Zylstra (Glenn) of Sheldon, IA, Mary Jacobson (Dean) of Camarillo, CA, Irene Helmers of Sibley, IA and Audrey Moet of Luverne, MN; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hio and Anna Helmers; four brothers, Raymond, Albert, Irvin and Marlin; and one sister, Phoebe Pay.
