George, IA Travis Musich, age 34 passed away Friday December 12, 2014 at his home in Vacaville, CA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday December 23, 2014 at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church in George, IA with Rev. Paul Fischer officiating. Burial will follow at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in George. Visitation will be Monday, December 22nd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home of George, IA. TSGT Travis Musich was born October 9, 1980 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Travis was raised and received his education at George/Little Rock, Iowa until 1994 when he moved to Taylors, South Carolina. He attended Northwood Middle School and graduated from East Side High school in 1999. He continued his education at Greenville Tech for 2 years. He received an associate degree. September 17, 2001 he joined the United States Air Force. His basic training was completed at Lackland AFB, Lackland, Texas and he continued his schooling for avionics at Biloxi, Mississippi. From there he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA, where he remained as a GAC in the 749 squander (AMC) Air Borne until present. For 6 years he was in the United States Air Force, serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. He then enlisted in the active United States Air Force Reserves. While in the reserves he was deployed 6 times since 2004. He loved his GAC job on the KC-10 refueling support jet in the Air Force. Col. Matthew Burger, commander of his squadron informed us of his exemplary performance of his duties which surpassed any previous Tech Sargent at Travis Air Force Base. Travis enjoyed collecting video games, CDs, and DVDs. He also enjoyed hockey, football, and music. Travis is the son and best friend of Gary and Judy Hughey of Taylors, SC. Also surviving is Uncle Harold and Aunt Kim Chadwick of George, Ia; and cousins, Brady and Trevor Chadwick; half-brothers, Scott and Todd Musich, Florida, Troy Musich, Washington; and step brother, Josh Hughey Asheville, NC; grandmother, Atrice Hughley and many other extended family. Travis is also survived by many, many Air Force brothers and sisters and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lorin and Loraine Chadwick; Aunts, Deloris Chadwick and Melba White; Father Robert Musich; Paternal grandparents, Michael and Marie Musich; and Grandfather Gene Hughey.
