George, Iowa June I. Vust, age 93 of George, IA died Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society in George, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, January 23rd at Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA, with Rev. Bryan Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George. Visitation will be Thursday, January 22nd from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of George. June Ione Vust was born June 2, 1921 at the family farm near Kenneth, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Clara (Bruinsma) Rust. She was raised on a farm and attended Kenneth Community School. As a young woman she worked for area families with childcare and house cleaning. June was united in marriage to John R. Vust on August 25, 1942 in Luverne, MN. They lived on the Vust family farm until 1955 when they lived various places in the Midwest. During this time June worked various jobs such as cook, house maid and homemaker. In 1986 June and John retired and moved to George, Iowa. On November 25, 1997 June's husband, John died suddenly after 55 years of marriage. June remained active in the community as a volunteer at the Museum and went on several vacations with family. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in George and active in Bible Study. She also was active with Oseifresland Genealogy Society. She enjoyed friendly competition while playing board games. She spent time reading, crossword puzzles, watching Perry Mason on TV, and watching and feeding birds. She was proud to have raised her family and to help others in need. In November of 2014 June entered Good Samaritan Society in George and remained there until her death this past Monday, January 19, 2015. She is survived by her children, Delores (husband Robert) Hobbs of Ridgeway, VA, William Vust of George, IA, Gary (wife Brenda) Oian-Vust of Eagle Lake, MN and Bonnie Jensen of Wilmont, MN; eight grandchildren, Christine (husband Ewell) Mullins, Carline (husband John) Green, Amanda (husband Jesse) Jensen-Stahl, Robert Hobbs, Alicia Jensen, Anna Vust, Regan and Nadia Oian-Vust; three great-grandchildren, Jessica and Autum Mullins and Tray Jensen; sister-in-law, Joyce Hovland of George, IA; and many other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Rust; husband, John R. Vust; son, John W. Vust; and granddaughter, Natasha Oian Vust.
