Ashton, IA Christina Freese age 95 of Sibley, IA, formerly of Ashton, IA died Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at Zoar Presbyterian Church rural George, IA, with Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Burial will follow the lunch in the Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton, IA. Visitation will be Thursday, January 22nd from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Ashton, IA. Christina Minnie Freese was born on August 14, 1919 in Lyon County, IA, the daughter of Meindert and Anna (Uden) Johnson. She grew up in the Melvin, Sibley and Ashton areas. Christina attended school through the eighth grade in Ocheyedan, IA. On October 2, 1941, she was united in marriage to Theodore Molitor to this union five children were born. The couple lived on a farm near Sibley, and were later divorced after nineteen years of marriage. Christina later married John Freese on July 24, 1965 and to this union one daughter was born. Christina held various jobs throughout her life as a custodian at Northern Iowa Community College, the Iron Horse, Aalf's, Pete's, Ashton Elevator, and Bonnie's Bar & Café. She also owned and operated a café in Slayton, MN for a time and baby-sat for different families in the community. In the later part of her working life as she was in her 80's, Christina worked as a custodian for the Sheldon Clinic and the First Presbyterian Church in Ashton. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ashton until it closed, and then she became a member of the Zoar Presbyterian Church. Christina enjoyed polka dancing, gardening, flowers, embroidery, doing word search, watching parades and playing the organ. Special memories that Christina's kids had, were how much fun Christina had on a trip to California, their Family Reunions, birthday outings, Branson Trips, and a Caribbean Cruise that some of her kids took her on. Christina is survived by her five children: Monte Molitor of Sibley, IA, LeAnn (Butch) Gerken of Little Rock, IA, Pat (Dan) Niichel of Granville, IA, David (Beth) Molitor of Sibley, IA, and Carla (Dan) Goergen of Granville, IA; daughter-in-law, Sheri Molitor of Eagle Grove, IA; nineteen grandchildren: Jerry Molitor, David Molitor, Misty Molitor, Brian Molitor, Jason Mills, Curtis Molitor, Katie (Mark) Vander Naald, Nic Molitor, Natalie (Lucas) Larson, Neil Molitor, Lisa (Terry) Harms, Kari (Scott) Cornelius, Clinton Bruns, Jerry (Heather) Niichel, DeAnn (Monty) Adams, Melissa (John) Rupp, Matthew (Robie) Molitor, Jade and Sage Goergen; twenty-five great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; one brother, Merlyn (Judy) Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Meindert Johnson; son, Ted "Jr" Molitor Jr.; four siblings, Bill (Clara) Johnson, Lena (Helmer) Kruger, Esther (Leonard "Tuff") Krogman and Alfred (Johanna) Johnson; son-in-law, Bob Bruns; and great granddaughter, Shantel Vander Naald.
