Little Rock, IA Marlyce Klaassen age 85 of Little Rock, IA died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at her home in Little Rock, IA. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, with Reverend Scott Burdsall, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Little Rock. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 10th at the First Presbyterian Church of Little Rock from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The Jurrens Funeral Home of Little Rock is in charge of arrangements. Marlyce Lillian Klaassen was born June 13, 1929, northeast of Little Rock, IA, the daughter of Martin and Eleanor (Clark) Nachtigal. Marlyce attended country school and graduated from Little Rock High School. She attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, IA, and later taught country school. On February 4, 1949, Marlyce was united in marriage to Irvin Klaassen at Evangelical United Brethren Church in George, IA. The newlywed couple made their home on farms northeast of Little Rock. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school and was active in church. She was also a member of the Womens Club of Little Rock. Marlyce enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her great joy. Family gathering were always an exciting time at the Klaassen home. On December 30, 2014, Marlyce was diagnosed with cancer and was able to fight the disease until she died at her home in Little Rock on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the age of 85. Marlyce is survived by four children: Mark (Pam) Klaassen of Luverne, MN, Ardella Reitmeier of Brewster, MN, Lonnie (Marcia) Klaassen of Rock Rapids, IA and Doreen (Larry) Brunning of Storm Lake, IA; along with twelve grandchildren: Kimberly (John) Weidert, Barry (Megan) Klaassen, Korissa (Lee) Kramer, Amie (Paul) Croatt, Jamie Reitmeier (special friend, Kelly Henkels), Jess (Cathy) Reitmeier, Traci (Jeff) Barnable, Tyler (Kimberly) Klaassen, Kyle Klaassen (special friend, Shanae Van Voorst), Dustin Brunning (fiancée Brittny McNeil), Jordan Brunning, Camie (Matthew) Wyant; twenty great-grandchildren; one sister, Marge Christians of Chokio, MN; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Arnold (Eleanor) Wibben of George, IA; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin; her parents; and son-in-law, James Reitmeier. Blessed be the memory of Marlyce Klaassen.
