June 19, 1928 — February 10, 2015

Juliana Roemen, age 86 of Larchwood, IA died Tuesday February 10, 2015 at Fellowship Village in Inwood, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 14th at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood, IA, with Father Bruce Lawler officiating. Burial will follow at the Larchwood Cemetery in Larchwood, IA. Visitation will be Friday, February 13th from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood. Also there will be a Vigil service held at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the church. Julianna Snyders Roemen was born June 19, 1929, to Frank & Nellie (Janssen) Snyders. She was the 7th of 9 children. Julie survived childhood polio and went on to become an outstanding softball player with the Larchwood traveling team. She loved baseball. She was very proud that at one time, 7 of the 9 players on the Larchwood town team were Snyders brothers & cousins. She listened to the Minnesota Twins every day on the radio and never missed a Sunday Vikings game. She taught her kids and grandkids how to properly throw a softball and was always ready for a game of catch. Julie loved being outside tending to her garden. She planted 100 tomato plants every summer and was happy to share everything she grew. Julie graduated class Valedictorian in 1946 from St Marys Catholic School. She then worked in the business office at John Morrells. She married Donald L Roemen on May 29, 1950. She and Don farmed together in the Larchwood area. They both enjoyed getting together with her brothers & sisters to play cards or just visit & laugh & tease. Julie's faith was very important to her. She was a lifelong member of St Marys Catholic Church. Julie is survived by Don, her husband of 65 years, 4 children, (Dewy)Dwayne & JoAnn Roemen, Brandon, Jean & Marlin Visser, Harrisburg, Jerome & Karen Roemen,Tea, and Dale & Linda Roemen, Worthing. 9 Grandchildren, Michelle, Seth, Leah, Jessie, Chris, Lyndsay, Amy, Matthew, & Kylie and 3 Great-grandchildren, Jackson, Rylan & Kinsley, 3 sisters, Irene Daniels, Monica Weber, Rita Cain and brother Matt Snyder. Proceeding her in death was her parents, Frank and Nellie Snyders, brothers, Francis Snyders, Joe Snyders, Paul Snyders, sisters, Mary Roemen-Kramer-Honrath, Helen Mitchell-Dains , in-laws, Naomi Snyders, Elsie Snyders, Mavis Snyder , Joan Snyders, Joe Daniels, Steve Cain, Joe Roemen, Urban Kramer, Leo Honrath, John Weber, Jack Mitchell, and Marv Dains.
