Ashton, IA Eva Huss age 92 of Sheldon, IA, formerly of Ashton, IA died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 14th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton, IA, with Father Allan Reicks as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be Friday, March 13th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton. Also there will be a 4:30 PM Rosary and 7:00 PM Vigil services at the church Friday evening. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and or the American Breast Cancer Foundation. Jurrens Funeral Home of Ashton is in charge of services. Eva Rose Huss was born April 6, 1922 at Ashton, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Gertrude (Hatting) Seivert. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School. She was united in marriage to Cecil Huss on November 19, 1942 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton. The couple farmed south of Ashton for 70 years before moving in 2011 to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon, IA. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and active with the Catholic Daughters of America and St. Mary's Guild since 1951. She also was active with TOPS weight program for many years. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading, gardening, baking, cooking and quilting when time allowed. Her family loved raisin filled cookies and bread. She also enjoyed watching Minnesota Twins Baseball, especially when they beat Cecil's Detroit Tigers. On February 23, 2013 Eva's husband, Cecil died after 70 years of marriage. She remained living in Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon until this past Tuesday, March 10, 2015, when she died at Sanford Hospital in Sheldon at the age of 92. She is survived by five children, Bob (wife Cathy) Huss of Columbus, NE, Gary Huss of Scottsbluff, NE, Dianne Phelps of Lakewood, CO, Tom (wife Cheryl) Huss of Becker, MN, and Randy (wife Jan) Huss of Ashton, IA; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Huss of Ashton, IA; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Eloise Kuiper of Ashton, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Gertrude Seivert; her husband, Cecil Huss; her son, Richard Huss; her two brothers, Bernard and Marvin Seivert; and two sisters-in-law, Mabel and Dorothy Seivert.
