Valley Springs, SD Allen Vis, age 70 of Valley Springs, SD died peacefully with his family by his side, Monday, March 30, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 7th at Hills United Reformed Church in Hills, MN, with Rev. Alan Camarigg officiating. Burial will follow at the United Reformed Cemetery in Hills, MN. Visitation will be Monday, April 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hills Christian School or donor's choice. Allen Henry Vis was born April 11, 1944 at Hull, Iowa, the son of Peter and Minnie (Horn) Vis. He was raised on the family farm near Boyden, IA and attended Hull Christian School. In 1962 Allen's family moved to a farm near Valley Springs, SD. He remained living there his entire life, helping with the day to day operation of the farm. He was a member of the United Reformed Church of Hills. Allen enjoyed cattle and other animals, especially his dog "Daisy". He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed annual trips to watch the Twins. He also enjoyed traveling with his family to the Black Hills and taking fishing trips. Most of all, he loved his nieces and nephews and was very proud of them. He is survived by six siblings, John (wife Marg) Vis of Valley Springs, SD, Kathy (husband Jake) Hoogendoorn of Hills, MN, , Jo Anne Blankespoor of Doon, IA, Norm (wife Judy) Vis of Valley Springs, SD, Jim (wife Audrey) of Sioux Falls, SD and Linda (husband Harley) Bork of Jasper, MN; one sister-in-law, Karen Vis of Valley Springs, SD; and many nieces, nephews, many grand-nieces and nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by parents, Peter and Minnie Vis; brother, Marlin Vis; and two nephews, Monte Vis and Mark Hoogendoorn.
