Sibley, IA Marlene Wehmeyer age 81 of Sibley, IA died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at her home in Sibley, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Sibley, IA, with Pastor Shannon Pascual officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley, IA. Visitation will be Friday, April 17th from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Marlene Luree Wehmeyer was born February 16, 1934 in rural Osceola County, the daughter of Martin and Vera (Winters) Dannaman. She was raised in Sibley, IA and attended Sibley High School, graduating in 1952. After high school she started working at J.C. Penny's Store until she was united in marriage to Virgil Wehmeyer on February 18, 1956 at Sibley, IA. The couple remained living in Sibley their entire lives. Marlene was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sibley. She enjoyed watching birds and squirrels, scrapbooking, and following the Sibley community news on the radio every morning. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their school activities. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Pam Wehmeyer of Sibley, IA; three grandchildren, Jodi (husband Neil) Gonyer of Minneapolis, MN, Greg (wife Jennifer) Wehmeyer of Omaha, NE and Katie (husband Nick) Willenborg of Waterloo, IA; one great-grandson, Zach Wehmeyer; a sister-in-law, Barbara Booher of Indianola, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Vera Dannaman; her husband of 45 years, Virgil Wehmeyer; and her son, John Wehmeyer.
