Little Rock, IA Rentje Venenga, age 102 of Little Rock, IA died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Sibley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Sibley, IA. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Little Rock. Visitation will be Thursday, May 7th, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Little Rock. In lieu of flowers family prefers memorial be sent to: Salem Reformed Church Rentje Venenga was born on June 8, 1912 in Nobles County Minnesota, the son of Harm and Trientje (Rust) Venenga. He grew up in the Sibley area and attended country school thru the eighth grade. On September 10, 1940, Rentje was united in marriage to Jennie Van Dyke. The couple made their home in Rushmore, MN until 1952, when they moved to Bigelow, MN. After retiring from farming they moved to Little Rock, IA. Rentje's wife Jennie passed away on July 3, 2003. Rentje continued to live in Little Rock until September 10, 2014, when he became a resident at the Sibley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sibley, IA. Rentje was a member of the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock. Rentje is survived by his son, Ronald (Bonnie) Venenga of Little Rock, IA; four grandchildren: Greg Venenga of Rock Valley, IA, Ronda (Ryan) Pottebaum of Orange City, IA, Carmen Venenga of Sioux Falls, SD and Derek (Tara) Venenga of Sioux Falls, SD; five great-grandchildren: Kaden and Jorgen Pottebaum, Lauren, Reese and Kinnick Venenga; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harm and Trientje Venenga; wife, Jennie Venenga; three sisters: Pearl Christians, Tena Hassebroek and Jennie Habben; and two brothers: Phillip and Herman Venenga.
