Little Rock, Iowa Alvina Ann Voss, age 93 of Little Rock, IA died unexpectedly, Thursday, June 11, 2015 at her residence in Little Rock, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, June 15th at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA, with Pastor Dustin Sperlich officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Alvina (Nina) Voss was born November 30, 1921 near Doon, IA, the daughter of Frank and JoHanna (Schnepf) Johnson. She was raised on the family farm and attended country school, Garfield #9 in George, IA. As a young lady she lived with her parents and helped area families with household work and childcare. She was confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakewood, IA. On February 17, 1940, Nina was united in marriage to Earl H. Voss at Salem Reformed Church Parsonage in Little Rock, IA. They farmed south of Little Rock for many years and moved to their home in town in 1976. Five children were blessed to this union. In July of 1996 Nina's husband, Earl, died. She remained living in Little Rock, staying active with Salem Reformed Church activities. She enjoyed quilting, needle work and crocheting. She also baked bread, cakes and cookies. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially hosting company at her home. If you were ever visiting her in the afternoon, tea was always ready. Friends and family will always remember tea time. She is survived by her five daughters, Marlys Kruse of Little Rock, IA, Arlys (Pete) Boekhout of Platte City, MO, Mary Hodge of Williamsville, NY, Lola Voss of Little Rock, IA and Earleen (Sam) Chase of Sibley, IA; grandchildren and their children, Dylan (Deb) Kruse and their sons, Dan and Dustin (Katie) Kruse, Kelly (Susan) Kruse and their children, Alexa and Will, and Undrea Kruse, Roshonne Peters and her children, Nathan and Emily, Brian (Nik) Boekhout and their children, Payton, Palmer and Noelle, Tadgi DeBerg, Sammy Chase; and one great-great-grandchild, Brayden Kruse; one sister, Marie Bruns of Sibley, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and JoHanna Johnson; her husband, Earl Voss; two sons-in-law, Myron Kruse and Herb Hodge; an infant brother, Walter Johnson; four brothers, Al, Art, Roy and Paul Johnson; and one sister, Louise Kruse. There is a special place in heaven for our mother, who selflessly cared for our handicapped sister for 62 years.
