Alvord, IA Vernon "Vern" Knobloch, age 51 of Alvord, IA died Sunday, June 14, 2015 at his home with his family at his side, after an extended battle with multiple myeloma. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 17th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Lester, IA. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16th with family present from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester. Vernon Edwin Knobloch was born March 18, 1964 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Edwin and Elgeva (Kellenberger) Knobloch. He was raised on the family farm near Alvord, IA. At an early age Vern's father, Edwin passed away. In 1969 Vern's mother remarried Art Knobloch and adopted Vern. He attended West Lyon Community School and graduated in 1983. He began farming and lived in Lester for 5 years and then moved to the home place near Alvord. Vern was united in marriage to Chalea Teunissen on September 2, 1989 in Rock Valley, IA. Seven children were blessed to this union. Vern became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in 1994. He loved farming and spending time with his family. He enjoyed giving his kids rides on his tractor, camping with family and friends, and making popcorn over the fire. He also loved playing with his grandson, Kaiden. Vern was diagnosed with multiple myeloma on January 4, 2014. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 25 years, Chalea Knobloch of Alvord, IA; seven children, Chalsea (husband, Tristan) Kuenzi of Rock Rapids, IA, Garth, Blain, Damon, Janel "Lolly", Molly, and Korin Knobloch, all of Alvord, IA; one grandson, Kaiden Kuenzi; his mother, Elgeva Knobloch of of Lester, IA; four sisters, Carolyn (husband, Dale) Hartzler of Ritman, OH, Donna (husband, Mike) Barber of Sioux Falls, SD, Shirley (husband, Bob) DeSmet of Alvord, IA and Linda (husband, Brad) Klostergaard of Beresford, SD; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Knobloch; step-father, Art Knobloch; a brother, Loren Knobloch; and mother-in-law, Janet Teunissen.
