Sibley, Iowa Ruth Dwyer, age 91 of Sun Valley, CA died on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, IA. Burial will follow at the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and there will be light refreshments served following the committal service at the funeral home. Ruth Elaine (Alexander) Dwyer was born October 5, 1923 in Osceola County, Iowa to Emerson and Freda (Winkel) Alexander. Ruth grew up on the farm near Ashton, Iowa. She graduated from Sibley High School in 1942. Ruth attended business school in Des Moines, Iowa. For a short time Ruth worked in Ankeny, Iowa for U.S. Rubber which manufactured ammunition in support of the war effort. Ruth then moved to Minneapolis, MN and worked for Munsingwear from August 1945 to May 1971. While living in Minneapolis Ruth was a member of Grace-Trinity Community Church. In 1971 Ruth was united in marriage to William Edward Dwyer and they moved to Los Angeles, CA. Ruth worked for American Benefit Administrators, Inc. in LA from April 1976 to April 1984. Ruth and Bill moved into a new construction apartment building when they moved to LA in 1971. She was very proud of her 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. She wallpapered, painted, and decorated it with treasures from her many shopping excursions in LA. Ruth lived in that apartment for 43 years. In December, 2014, she moved into a Board and Care Home in Sun Valley, CA. Her health began to fail in February, 2015 and she passed away on June 17, 2015. Ruth is survived by her brother, Gene Alexander who resides in Yankton, SD, nieces Linda Alexander (Dave) Hansen, Catherine Peterman, Mary Peterman, Ann Adam, Carol Peterman, Eileen Cassidy, Kathleen Cassidy, and Patricia Kalvass, nephews Doug (Helen) Alexander, Robert (Shan) Alexander, Paul (Pam) Alexander, Mark (Michele) Alexander, Glenn Alexander, John Peterman, and Ed Cassidy, and several cousins. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, parents, Emerson and Freda, brother, Ray, sisters-in law Darlene Alexander, Marlys Alexander, Catherine Peterman, and Eileen Cassidy.
