Rock Rapids, IA Scott "Scotty" Wissink, age 60 of Rock Rapids, IA died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:30AM, Saturday, June 27th at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Carolyn Salberg officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Friday, June 26th from 2:00 to 8:00PM, with family present from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Christian Church (Disciples) in Rock Rapids. Scott David Wissink was born February 23, 1955 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Melvin H. and Gloria M. (Frohloff) Wissink. He was raised in Rock Rapids, IA and graduated from Central Lyon High School in 1973. He continued his education at Northwest Community College in Sheldon, IA where he completed the Auto Body Repair program in 1975. He was united in marriage on July 29, 1978 to Sandy Jansma in Rock Rapids. The couple made their home in Rock Rapids and two sons were blessed to this union. Scotty worked at Ray's Body Shop until 1990, when he started his own business, "Scotty's Paint & Body". He was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples) in Rock Rapids, Kiwanis Club and Community Affairs Council Board. At a young age Scotty was very crafty and mechanical. He enjoyed bowling, racing Go-Carts and snowmobiling. He especially enjoyed drag racing with his children at Thunder Valley. For many years Scotty was proud to operate the tow truck at Rock Rapids Speedway. He also helped many racers and also painted and lettered many race cars. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sandy Wissink of Rock Rapids, IA; two sons, Steve and Stan Wissink, both of Rock Rapids, IA; daughter-in-law, Jaselyn Wissink of Rock Rapids, IA; two grandchildren, Chloe and Maddox; a brother, Kent Wissink of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister, Melanie (Steve) Cuperus of George, IA; parents-in-law, William and Harriet Jansma of Ellsworth, MN; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Denice (Mike) Dirks, MN, Warren (Delinda) Jansma, Colleen Jansma, Kevin (Kristin) Jansma, Bill (Michelle) Jansma; several nieces and nephews; and many other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Gloria; an infant brother; and a brother-in-law, Darryl Jansma.
