Sibley, IA Lester Buysman age 78 of Heron Lake, MN formerly of Sibley, IA died suddenly, Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Sanford Regional Hospital in Worthington, MN. Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 30th, 2015 at the First Reformed Church in Sibley with Reverend Irwin Van Leeuwen officiating. Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley, IA. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 29th with family present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley, IA. Lester Lee Buysman was born May 17, 1937 on the family farm near Sanborn, IA to Harry and Josie (Elgersma) Buysman. He attended country school near Sibley. On November 20, 1957 he was united in marriage to Joan Darlene Buss at the First Presbyterian Church in Ashton. Following their marriage, Les and Joan first lived in Sibley, IA for a few years. In 1960 they began farming together in the Ocheyedan and Harris area. Later in 1970 they settled near Worthington, MN where they farmed for the next twenty years. Les has been a member of the First Reformed Church of Sibley since he and Joan first lived in Sibley. 1n 1990 they moved off the farm into Worthington, where they managed a motel. They then moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ, in 1994 for a year, managing a resort and operating a food vending trailer. Les and Joan loved spending as much time together as possible. In 1995 they returned to southwest MN making their home in Heron Lake. Soon thereafter he joined the American Reformed Church of Worthington. After Joan's passing in 1997, Les worked at Swift & Co. until his retirement in 2004. During his retirement years, Les enjoyed wintering in Texas with his daughters and grandchildren. Les always looked forward to spending time with his family and taking as many weekend excursions as possible. One of the things that was sure to bring a sparkle to his eye and a grin to his face was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. It was evident to all he cherished these times and loved those kids. He is survived by his four children, Sherri (Bryan) Blackwell of Keller, TX, Jeffrey (Jane) Buysman of Worthington, MN and Lon (Angela) Buysman of Enterprise, KS, and Lori (Tim) Friend of Keller, TX; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Ivadelle Buysman and Marlys Buysman both of Sibley, IA; nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Les was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 39 years, Joan Buysman; siblings, Jeanette Tamminga, Clarence Buysman, Donald Buysman and Harriet Janssen.
