Larchwood, Iowa Helen Roemen, age 90 of Larchwood, IA died Monday morning July 27, 2015, at the Agave Assisted Living in Peoria, AZ. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, August 4th at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood, IA, with Father Bruce Lawler as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Larchwood Cemetery in Larchwood. Visitation will be Monday, August 3rd from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood. Also there will be a 7:00 PM Vigil service at the church Monday evening. Helen T. Roemen was born June 15, 1925 in Larchwood, IA. She was the daughter of Peter and Cornelia (Tillie) Scholten. She lived her entire life in Larchwood, graduating from St. Mary's Catholic School. After graduation she worked for Jake and Bill Bontje. On June 4, 1945, Helen was united in marriage with Donald A. Roemen in Larchwood. She helped Donald out on the family farm where they lived until retirement. After retirement she continued to help Donald when he was delivering veterinary supplies for Grand Labs. During her free time she quilted, sewed, canned, did word finds, and watched baseball. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She treasured visiting with family and friends when they stopped for coffee and cookies. Helen is survived by and will be missed by five daughters, Rose Marie (Dan) Conway of Sun City, AZ; Kathleen (Joe) Robillard of Maple Grove, MN; Eileen Roemen of Sun City, AZ; Elaine (Vince) Fox of Chandler, AZ and Pat (Randy) Rowen of Omaha, NE; three sons, Keith (Coleen) Roemen of Council Bluffs, IA; Joel (Rochelle) Roemen of Sachse, TX and Tim Roemen of West Des Moines, IA. She is also survived by sister, Regina (Mick) Willett; sister-in-laws Shirley Scholten; Marie Roemen; LaVerna O'Connell and sister-in-law and life-long friend Veronica Scholten. In addition to her children she also had 24 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Roemen; three sons, Larry, Guy, and Bruce; grandson Joshua Reetz; son-in-law Mike Reetz; and 5 brothers and 6 sisters.
