Lucy Ann Frank

Sibley, IA        Lucy Frank, age 75 of Sibley, IA died on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA.        Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, with Reverend Barb Kopperud officiating.        Visitation will be Monday, February 1st from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.        Lucy Ann (Tasler) Frank was born on May 17, 1940 in Hennepin County, Maple Grove, MN, the daughter of John and Ivy (Evans) Tasler. Lucy went to Country School in Maple Grove thru the 7th grade, and then later her family moved to Osseo, MN. While attending Osseo Public School she met Douglas Frank at the age of fifteen. She later graduated from Osseo High School in 1958. Lucy then went to cosmetology school in Minneapolis, MN. Doug was discharged from the Air Force in 1961. Lucy and Doug were later married in 1963 in Anoka, MN. To this union two daughters were born, Lynne (1967) and Laura (1969). The couple made their home in Lake George, MN and their kids attended St. Francis School. While living there Doug worked at Federal Cartridge in Anoka and Midwest Printing in Minneapolis, MN. Lucy worked for Marvin’s Beauty Shop in Anoka and Medtronics in Minneapolis, MN before moving to Sibley, IA in 1978 to start a business. The couple owned and operated A&W Family Restaurant for eighteen years in Sibley and moved to Emmetsburg, IA to run an A&W for eight years. After retiring in 2006 they moved back to Sibley, IA. In August of 2013 Lucy and Doug celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.      Lucy had battled and beaten breast cancer early in her life and in 2015 was diagnosed with lung cancer that was too far along to cure. But she valued that long amount of time she had between cancers to share with family and friends, and just live life. She will be greatly missed.        Left to cherish her memory is her husband of fifty-two years, Douglas Frank of Sibley, IA; two daughters, Lynne (Frank) Newbury and Shane Erickson of Emmetsburg, IA and Laura (Frank) Roetzel of Emmetsburg, IA; five grandsons, Nathan, Seth and Dusti Julius of Algona, IA, Tristan Roetzel of Emmetsburg, IA and Douglas Newbury of Lacey, WA; great-grandchildren: Dominik and Alyanna Julius of Algona, IA; sister-in-law, Roxanne Tasler of Champlin, MN; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Sharon (Tom) Giddings of Anoka, MN, Joe (Diane) Herbert of Isanti, MN, Brad (Nancy) Frank of Plymouth, MN, David Frank and Rosie of Dallas, TX, Mary (Chuck) Camp of Anoka, MN, Tom (Pat) Frank of Anoka, MN, Vicky (Tom) Plant of Eagen, MN, Debbie Weinhold of Elk River, MN, Wayne Wallace of Coon Rapids, MN and Rick Johnson of Foreston, MN; nieces and nephews: Shellie (Tasler) Gebhard, Brian Tasler, and Aaron Tasler of Minneapolis, MN and Peggy (Hughs) Stoks of Minneapolis, MN and Roger Hughs of California; special loved ones, Jerry and Claudette, Little Joe and Amedia and Dick and Mardell; and other extended family and friends.        She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ivy Tasler; brother, James Tasler; sister and brother-in-law, Judy (Frank) Hughs; son-in-law, David Roetzel; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Avis Frank; sisters-in-law: Bonnie (Frank) Johnson and Pat (Frank) Wallace.
