Pearl Kruger, age 90 of Glenwood, IA formerly of Sibley, IA died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood, IA. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, with Reverend Luke Schouten officiating. Burial will follow at the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley. Pearl Kruger, daughter of Jesse and Alida (Onken) Klinkkammer was born in September 13, 1925 in Ortonville, MN. She grew up on a farm in nearby South Dakota. She graduated high school at the age of 16 and went to teachers college in Milbank, South Dakota. She taught in rural schools in South Dakota for many years. In 1942 she met Roger Kruger following his discharge from the U.S. Navy. In 1946 the couple were married in Sacramento, CA and moved back to Sibley in 1949. In 1951 the couple moved to South Dakota where they farmed up until 1963 when they moved back to Sibley. Pearl worked at several places in Sibley. She worked as a clerk in the Gambles Hardware Store, secretary and prepared taxes for the Henry Simmons (Justice of Peace), sold advertising and did ad layouts for the Sibley newspaper, and worked at 1st National Bank up until her retirement. After her retirement she was very active in the Reformed Church, hospital auxiliary, and hospice volunteer. In 2009 she moved to Glenwood to be closer to her family. She enjoyed everything involving her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed having visits with people and making new friends. Pearl is survived by her son, Mark and Laura Kruger of Ashton, IA, daughter, Lynda and Gary Gray of Silver City, IA; grandchildren, James, Marie, and Jessie; great grandchildren Jared, Elijah, Mia, Alyssa and Matt; niece, Mary Hammond; and many other nieces, nephews and other extended family. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents and husband Roger after 64 years of marriage; and sister, Myrtle Gronewold.
