Janice Ward

Hills, MN             Janice Ward, age 75 of Hills, MN died Thursday, March 10, 2016 at her home, with her family by her side, in Hills, MN.           Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Monday, March 14th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, MN with Rev. Grant Fischer officiating.  Burial will follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hills.         Visitation will be Sunday, March 13th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Hills.      Janice Lee Ward was born September 16, 1940 in Windom, Minnesota, the daughter of William Richard and Pearl Eldora (Sogge) Hiney.  She was raised in the Worthington, MN area before moving to the Valley Springs, SD area, where she attended high school.      Janice was united in marriage to Wayne Ward on August 16, 1959 at Palisades Lutheran Church near Valley Springs, SD.  Together they lived in Hills all of their married lives.  Janice worked at Hills-Beaver Creek High School and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  Janice was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills.  She enjoyed crocheting beautiful blankets and in her younger years she loved to square dance.  She cherished the life together with her family and took great joy in the time she spent with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.      She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Wayne Ward of Hills, MN; three children, Dave Ward (wife Judy Kunkel) of Mt. Lake, MN, Steve (wife Paula) Ward of Tea, SD and Wendy (husband Tim) Buss of Hills, MN; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Marie (husband Darrell) Brown of Hills, MN; and many other extended family.        She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pearl Hiney; two brothers, William P. Hiney and Dick Hiney; and two nephews, Terry Hiney and Lonnie Hiney.
