George, IA Viola Harms, age 90 of George, IA died Sunday morning, April 3, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in George, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6th at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George with Rev. Dale Lint, officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 5th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Viola A. (Renken) Harms was born August 13, 1925 on a farm east of George, the daughter of Henry and Alta (Bonk) Renken. Viola grew up on the farm and attended country school. She was united in marriage to William Harms on October 19, 1946 at George. They made their home and farmed east of George. Viola was a loving wife, caring mother and a busy homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and watching birds. Viola was active in her church where she was a longtime member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, belonging to the United Presbyterian Women’s group, church circle groups, served on the cradle roll and also on the flower committee for many years. Viola became a resident of the George Good Samaritan Society in George on February 6, 2016. This past Sunday morning April 3, 2016, Viola died at the home in George at the age of ninety. She is survived by her children William L. Harms of Olathe, KS; Linda Harms of Sheldon, IA and Rick and his wife, Janet Harms of Bucyrus, KS; four grandchildren, Jamie Harms of Lenexa, KS; William C. (Jodi) Harms of Lawndale, CA; Aaron Harms of Penrose, CO and Austin Harms of Greeley, CO; two great grandchildren, Flynn and Sia Harms of Lawndale, CA and many nieces and nephews. Viola was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents, Henry and Alta; sisters, Clara Renken, Lillian Hargens, Rose Heronemus and Ann Wieman; brothers, Alvin, Floyd, Fred, Harry and John Renken.
