Ellsworth, MN Dianne J. Johnson, age 64 of Ellsworth, MN died Monday, April 18, 2016 at Sanford Luverne Hospice in Luverne, MN. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 22nd at Bethel Reformed Church rural Little Rock, IA. Burial will follow at Bethel Reformed Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 21st from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Dianne Jean (Bergman) Johnson the daughter of John Bergman and Margaret (Stratmeier) was born August 3, 1951 at Sibley, IA. She was raised on a farm near Little Rock, IA and attended Little Rock School, graduating from Little Rock High School. On February 9, 1971, Dianne was united in marriage to Harlan Johnson at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock. They made their home near Ellsworth for a couple of years and then in 1974 they moved to Adrian, MN until 1986. From 1987 to 1990 Harlan and Dianne lived on a farm near Ellsworth before moving into Ellsworth in 1990. Over her life, she worked as a church secretary at the Adrian/Magnolia United Methodist Church, Ellsworth Veterinary Clinic as a receptionist and head cook at the Ellsworth Public School. She also did various cake decorating and event catering. Dianne was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church and the Bethel Women Ministries. She enjoyed playing piano for church services and she taught Sunday school for 15 years. For many years she was a cook at the Ellsworth school and many students will remember her as “grandma.” In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family, camping trips, family outings and church and school activities. Some of her fond memories include cooking for the kids at school and the Ellsworth Boys Basketball trips to the state tournament. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Harlan Johnson of Ellsworth, MN; daughters, Amy Labat of Cottonwood, MN; Tracy and her husband, Bob Gruis of George, IA; Jan and her husband, Adam Kinsinger of Luverne, MN and Jill Johnson of Luverne, MN; along with six grandchildren, Dylan Labat; Max, Sam and Bre Gruis and Andrew and Eli Kinsinger; sisters, Linda (Larry)Kix of Rock Rapids, IA; Marjorie Van Roekel of Oakdale, MN and Judy Huisman of Ellsworth, MN. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret Bergman; mother and father-in-law, Chris and Anna Leta and brothers-in-law, Russel Huisman and James Carpenter.
