Doris Willemssen, age 92 of Casa Grande, AZ, formerly of George, IA died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Sonlight Home in Tucson, AZ. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA with Pastor Dustin Sperlich officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be one hour prior the service at the church on Saturday. Doris Margaret Willemssen was born September 11, 1923, in George, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Katherine Wibben. She was raised on the family farm in George. On February 16, 1944 Doris was united in marriage to Marvin R. Willemssen at the Lyon County First Presbyterian parsonage near George, Iowa. They farmed in the Little Rock and George area from 1944 to 1988 where they raised four children. Doris also worked at the Good Samaritan Home in George for many years. Then they retired from farming and moved to Sioux Falls, SD. After Marvin died, she moved to Casa Grande, AZ, in 2013 to live with her daughter. She was a member of the Community Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She and Marvin enjoyed going to dances and playing cards. She was also an accomplished seamstress who sewed her daughter's wedding dress, Raggedy Ann dolls, and other projects. She is survived by three children, Shirley (Max) Whittington of Casa Grande, AZ, Jerry (Kathy) Willemssen of Prior Lake, MN and Mark (Tricia) Willemssen of Johnston, IA; nine grandchildren, Lisa (Joel) Goldstone, Jaime (Mark) Rusche, Stacy Carmichael, Christopher (Stephanie) Koser, Robin (Mark) Helphinstine, Heidi (Jon) Cullen, Kyle (Jordan) Willemssen, William (Hope ) Hols, and Michael (Jessica) Hols; and six great-grandchildren, Jaden Carmichael, Piper Koser, Payton and Max Helphinstine, and Tyler and Sydney Cullen; one brother, Arnold (Eleanor) Wibben, and one sister, Berdeen Ackerman; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; a daughter, Donna Koser; son-in-law, Ron Koser; and a brother-in-law, Marlyn Ackerman.
