Sibley, IA Betty Kruger, age 84 of Sibley, IA died unexpectedly Saturday, May 28, 2016 at her home in Sibley. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the First Reformed Church in Sibley, with Reverend Luke Schouten officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday, May 30, 2016 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Betty Jean Hindt was born on July 31, 1932 in Little Rock, IA, the daughter of Arthur E. and Emma M. (Schemmel) Hindt. She grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1950. On January 7, 1952, Betty was united in marriage to Robert L. Kruger at the Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA. The couple lived in Ocheyedan, IA, Wilmont, MN, Sibley, IA, Little Rock, IA and moved back to Sibley in 1984. To this union six children were born: Elaine, Karen, Joyce, Anita, Robert and Brenda. Betty worked as a dietary aide for a time and then was a housewife. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sibley. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, quilting and embroidery. She will be greatly missed. Betty is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Robert L. “Bob” Kruger of Sibley, IA; five children: Elaine Holmquist of Okabena, MN, Joyce (George) Bruder of Humboldt, IA, Anita Hoting of Sanborn, IA, Robert L. (Joan) Kruger of Columbus, NE, and Brenda (Will) Kroontje of Ashton, IA; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; two siblings: Leona (Fred) Heidebrink of Bigelow, MN and Jim (Linda) Hindt of Rockwell City, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Emma Hindt; daughter, Karen Harders; five brothers: Leroy, Edward, Charles, Marion and Gale Hindt; two sisters: Dorothy Widhelm and Lillian Harms; and a son-in-law, Gene Holmquist.
