Trena Harmina De Vries

Sibley, IA        Trena De Vries, age 91 of Sibley, IA died Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.        Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at United Methodist Church in Sibley with Pastor Steve Swenson officiating.         Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley.        Visitation will be Sunday, July 10th from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley, IA.     Trena Harmina DeVries was born at Sibley on September 20, 1924 to Harm and Anna (Husgus) Risius. She graduated from Fulda High School in 1942.  On December 26, 1945 Trena was united in marriage to Marvin DeVries in Sibley, IA.  She did secretarial work and after Marvin returned home from the army in 1948 they began farming west of Sibley until 2006. In August of 2010 Trena entered Country View Manor in Sibley.        Trena was a former member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Sibley where she was a Sunday school teacher for 30 years, member of the Guild and active on many committees.  In 2000 she joined the United Methodist Church in Sibley.        Trena enjoyed stitchery and refinishing furniture.  She enjoyed time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.        On July 8, 2016 Trena passed away at Country View Manor in Sibley at the age of 91.           She is survived by a son, Gary (wife Sandra) DeVries of Sibley, IA, a daughter, Pamela (husband John) Soderholm of Worthington, MN, six grandchildren Matthew DeVries (Sara), Amanda Loerts (Matt), Alyssa Hietbrink (Micah), Brian Soderholm, Craig Soderholm and Deron Soderholm and five great-granddaughters, Mallory, Madilyn, Emma, Annika and Clara, and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.           She is preceded in death by her parents, Harm & Anna Risius, husband, Marvin, nine sisters and one brother.
