Ashton, Iowa        Donald E. Johannes, age 78 of Frederic, Wisconsin and Green Valley, Arizona died Monday August 8, 2016 at St. Paul, MN.        Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, Iowa.      Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, Minnesota and one hour prior to the mass at church in Ashton, Iowa.      A Private interment will take place at a later date. Condolences may expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com        Don was born and raised on a farm in Ashton, Iowa on January 19, 1938 to parents Matthew and Erleen (Stamm) Johannes. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Ashton, Iowa and married Wanda Krahling in 1958. They had two children who died as babies, Donald Jr. and Steven. They moved to Minneapolis in 1960 where Don attended college and business school… and two other children were born – Tyron and Gale. Don continued working his own business and grocery store for years. They moved to Wisconsin where they enjoyed their retirement and their summers and loved living on the lake fishing and boating while wintering in Arizona.           Don is preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Erleen Johannes; siblings Robert Johannes, Roger Johannes, Mary Hallenback, Earl Johannes, and Patricia Johannes, brothers-in-law Bill Renken, and Ray Coover.           He is survived by his loving wife Wanda; children Tyron (Julie) Johannes and Gale (Tom) Wilson; grandchildren Skyler Wickland, Dakota, and Reese Johannes, and Jonathon, Jade, and Teagan Wilson; siblings Janet (Roland) Messier, Joan (Merlyn) Scheiber, Barbara Renken, Diane, (Don) Renken, and Jeannie Coover; sisters-in-law Ruby Johannes, and Pat Johannes; brother-in-law Jim Hallenback; and many other relatives and friends.
