Carol Jean Boor

  Sibley, IA        Carol Jean Boor, age 80 of Sibley, IA died Friday, September 09, 2016 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley, IA.        Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley, IA, with Father Siby Punnoose and Father Clair Boes as celebrants.        Burial will follow at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery in Sibley, IA.        Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.        Carol Jean Boor was born on June 9, 1936 in Sibley, Iowa.  She was the daughter of Wesley D. and Grace (Snuttjer) Harms.  She lived her youth on a farm near George, Iowa and attended George Country and Public School.  After 8th grade graduation, Carol Jean helped her father in his delivery business in George. In 1950 she moved with her parents to Sibley.        Carol Jean was united in marriage to Gary John Boor at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley on October 27, 1954. They built a little house in Sibley, next door to her parents and a few houses down the street from Gary’s parents (Vincent & Rachel Boor).  They lived in that house all their married life.  As their family grew so did the house with a total of six big renovations.  Carol Jean helped Gary manage Boor Construction and Boor Rental businesses.       Carol Jean was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church where she was very involved. As a member of the Guild, she organized many events for the parish and was the chairperson of the funeral committee for many, many years.    She also volunteered many hours cleaning and painting the church, school and rectory.  Carol Jean was also a member of the Osceola County Historical Society and a board member for the McCallum Museum.       Carol Jean enjoyed sewing, quilting, making craft projects, word puzzles, and helping her family, neighbors, and friends. She especially enjoyed time with the family making Christmas candy, Easter bunny cakes and the Boor family bus trips.  She will be forever remembered as the master bread baker; baking all the family’s bread, rolls and buns for over 50 years.    Everyone learned if you were lucky enough to show up on baking day you would be rewarded with something yummy.  Carol Jean was a loving and caring wife, mother and friend and will be greatly missed by all.            Carol Jean passed away on September 9, 2016 at Sibley Specialty Care. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Gary; her six children, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren; daughter Corinne (Harris) Kruse of Sibley and their children Hilary (Brandon) Sire and Ryland, Samuel and Everett Sire of Roca, NE; Heidi Kruse of Sibley, IA;  Haley (Tony) Sigler and Colton and Kendall Sigler of Aurora, NE;  daughter Sharon (Dale) Wolter of Sibley and their children Mallory (Craig) Hertz of Dakota Dunes, SD; Michaela Wolter and Makenzie Wolter of Sibley; son Daniel (Joleen) Boor of Des Moines and their children Gregory (Jessica) Boor and Piper Boor of Ankeny, IA;  Kimberly Boor of Scottsdale, AZ; son Paul (Kristine) Boor of Macomb, MI and their children  Paige Boor and Nicholas Boor of Macomb, MI; daughter Lynn Boor (friend Teryl Tibboel) of Bondurant, IA;  daughter Michelle (Steve) Frick of Sibley and their children Patrick (Katherine) Frick of Kansas City, MO; Amanda Frick (fiancé Steve Plourde) of Alameda, CA; Dalton Frick, and Michael Frick of Sibley, IA.  Also left to cherish her memory are her sister Verna Schniedermann of Little Rock, IA,  brother Kenneth (Myrna) Harms of Sibley, IA,  sister-in-law Geraldine (Loren) Harms, many nieces and nephews and lifelong friend Pat Zwart of Shakopee, MN.            Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley D. & Grace Harms and her brother Lorne Harms.
