Dorothy Bos

 Hills, MN    Dorothy L. Bos, age 81 of Hills, MN died Friday, October 28, 2016 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.      Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday October 31st at The Reformed Church of Steen, MN with Reverend Jeremy Wiersema officiating.  Burial will follow in the Eastside Cemetery at Steen.          Visitation will be Sunday, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills.       Dorothy Louise Bos was born March 28, 1935 on a farm place north of Hills Minnesota, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Rodenberg) Vander Steen.  She went to country school north of Hills until they moved to Leota in 1941where she went to Christian school and then public school in Edgerton. She then started to work for Fikse Produce and Nelson’s hardware/clothing store in Luverne.       Dorothy was united in marriage to Lyle Bos on October 15, 1954 at her parents’ home in Leota, MN.  Together they lived in Hills, MN the remainder of their lives. Dorothy managed their grain/livestock trucking business.  She also worked as a cook at The Tuff Memorial Home for several years, Tonys Clover Farm, Prince of Peace in Sioux Falls for 27.5 years and then again at the Tuff Memorial Home until retiring in July of 2016.       She was a member of The Reformed Church of Steen.  She most enjoyed spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking. Dorothy will be remembered by her family for providing them with a baked item of their choice for their birthdays and she was able to make all of the grandchildren’s wedding cakes. She enjoyed reading, playing Rummi Kub and Rook with friends and family.       She is survived by four children, Lila (Bill) Kroon of Rock Rapids, IA, Leo Bos of Hills, MN, Lora (Bob) Sayler of Sioux Falls, SD and Lois (Doug) Boeve of Beaver Creek, MN; ten grandchildren; Becky (Craig) Bontje, Stacy (Darin) Knobloch, Robin (Mike) Spath, Brian (Amy) Kroon, Nicole Sayler, Kelli Sayler, Danielle (Wyatt) Walter, Brianna (Mitchell) Leuthold, Brittany Boeve and Brandon Boeve (fiancé Logan Herman) and seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters, Minnie Bosch of Luverne, MN and Marie (Elmer) Veldhuizen of Edgerton, MN; many nieces, nephews and other extended family and special friends Gail Babcock, Olga Bly and Henrietta Haak.       She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Bos; two brothers, Bill and Cornie Vander Steen; and four sisters, Tracy Veenstra, Gert De Boer, Margaret Vleistra and Betty Brouwer.
