Ted’s mother died at the time of his birth and he was raised by his uncle Folkert and Jennie Krull. He grew up on a farm and attended country school and George High School.        On October 21, 1943 Ted was united in marriage to Ruth Funk.   They made their home in Sibley, IA where Ted worked at United Farm Service as a mechanic for several years. He then worked as a carpenter where he used this experience to build their first home. But Ted’s true love was farming so they moved to the country where he farmed and milked cows. Times were tough back then which brought them back to town. Ted went back to carpentry where now he worked at constructing bridges in the Mankato, MN area and became a member of the Minnesota local union. Ted then worked for Krien’s Construction in Sioux Falls so he could be closer to home. After “retiring” from Kriens, he worked around Sibley as handy man and part time at Exopack before he officially retired at the age of 79. He was a member of the Sibley Fire Department for over 60 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, served as an usher and deacon, active with the men’s bible study and married group. Ted and Ruth were blessed with three daughters, Colleen, Suzanne and Penny. A special grandson, Jeremiah, who made his home with them for many years and two special nieces, Robin and Randee Funk, who made their home with them for 6 years.   Ted and Ruth started the foreign exchange program in the Sibley School district and hosted nine girls from various countries, two of those exchange students were sisters from the Philippines. One exchange student from Germany still remains in contact with them today.        Ted’s family was very important to him. He enjoyed collecting farm machinery, cars and fire trucks, but he was always a farmer at heart!   Between family, farming and the Sibley Fire Department, these things were his life.        On July 22, 2016 Ted entered the Sibley Specialty Care Home in Sibley where he remained until his death.        He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Ruth Krull of Sibley, IA; three daughters, Colleen Harms of Sibley and her children Shellie Jacobsma of Seattle, WA, David Jacobsma of Minneapolis, MN, Heidi Jacobsma of Allendorf IA, Chris Harms of Sioux Falls SD; Suzanne Steele of Minneapolis, MN and her children Jeremiah Schroder of Worthington MN, Dominic Luster of Minneapolis MN; Penny Petersen of Sibley and her children Nicholas Petersen and Megan Petersen of Sibley; fifteen grandchildren; Robin Jeffries of Pala Alto, CA; Dorothee Janetzke-Wenzel their foreign exchange student from Germany and several nephews.        He was preceded in death by his parents; special niece Randee Funk; a twin infant sister, Florence Krull; three sisters, Jessie Schneidermann, Florence Meyerhoff and Grace Kruse; and two brothers, Harm Krull and Frank Krull.   Blessed be his memory.
