Rock Rapids, IA Joy Rosene, age 57 of Rock Rapids, IA passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Laurens United Methodist Church in Laurens, IA with Rev. Ed Frank officiating. Burial will follow at Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon, IA. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with family present on Monday, December 26th at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, IA. Joy Rosene was born April 26, 1959 in Spencer, IA to Roger and Gloria (Chapman) Bell. She was raised in Laurens and graduated from Laurens-Marathon High School in 1977. On September 9, 1978, she was united in marriage to Shane Rosene. The young couple made their home in Storm Lake. Two children were born to this union and Joy spent the first years of their lives as a homemaker for her family. In 1993 Joy and Shane moved to George, IA where they owned a grocery store for several years. In recent years, Joy worked as a representative for Signature Homestyles. She really enjoyed spending time with her “Signature Sisters.” Joy enjoyed quilting, especially going quilt shop hopping to find all the perfect fabrics. Joy also enjoyed genealogy, spending a lot of time researching her family history. This research helped her reconnect with many family members she hadn’t seen since childhood. Joy loved spending time with all of her cousins at the family reunions every year. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Joy was called home to her Lord, this past Wednesday, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls at the age of 57. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Shane Rosene of Rock Rapids, IA; daughter, Kayla Gerloff and her husband BJ and their children, Ellisyn, Quincy and Finley of George, IA; Alissa Harms and her special friend, Stan Wissink and their children Oliver and Adeline Harms and Chloe and Maddox Wissink of Rock Rapids, IA; mother, Gloria Bell of Laurens, IA; brother, Rodney (Garthlene) Bell of Laurens, IA and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. Joy was proceeded in death by her father, Roger Bell; and grandparents, Ralph and Laura Bell and Golda and James Chapman.
