Curtis Donald Koth

Sibley, Iowa                  Curtis Koth, age 87 of Sibley, IA died on Saturday January 14, 2017 at the North Ridge Care Center in New Hope, MN.        Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, January 20th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA , with Rev. Barb Kopperud officiating.        Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.        Visitation will be Thursday, January 19th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.        Curtis Donald Koth, the son of Dan and Anna Koth, born May 6th, 1929, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, January 14th, 2017. Curt was born in Parkston, South Dakota and moved to George, Iowa, where he graduated from High School. He was united in marriage to Gloria Wiegman December 27, 1950, while on leave from his military assignment in Germany, serving in the United States Army. They had two daughters, Kimberly and Jane.           Curt was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sibley, where he served on the church council, was in the choir and taught the Bethel Bible Study Series.        Curt began his career on main street at Flindt and Miller men’s clothing store and followed with a children’s clothing store and Koth Draperies. During this time he served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as driving school bus for many years.      He enjoyed carpentry, remodeling and was a skilled handyman. He was an expert boat driver at Lake Okoboji and loved teaching many guests to waterski. His door was always open for neighborhood coffees and happy hours.      Curt is survived by wife Gloria of 66 years, daughters Kimberly and Jane, (Jeff) Schultz, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, brothers Harlow and Keith and a sister-in-law Dorothy Koth.        Preceding him in death are his parents and three brothers, Clinton, Bill and Ivan. He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters-in-law, Norma Koth, Ann Koth and Lou Koth.         Blessed be his memory
