Sherry Koch

September 4, 1957 — February 14, 2017

Larchwood, IA       Sherry Koch, age 59 of Larchwood, IA died Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.       Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday February 18, 2017 at the United Church of Christ in Larchwood with Pastor Kelly Volk, officiating.  Private burialwill follow in the Larchwood Cemetery.       Visitation will be Friday February 17th from 4:00 – 800 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Larchwood.       Sherry (Miller) Koch was born September 4, 1957 at Port Byron, IL the daughter of Fredrick and Barb (Irwin) Miller.  She grew up in the Port Byron area where she attended school.  She graduated from Riverdale High School in 1975.  Sherry attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD and graduated from the United States Naval Academy serving the country from April 19, 1979, until she was honorably discharged on April 18, 1983.  She served the country overseas for part of her duty in Misawa, Japan.  Sherry was married to David Barnes and to this union were born two children, David and Andrea.  Sherry worked for CNA Surety for 23 years in Sioux Falls, SD.  On April fool’s day of 2006, Sherry was united in marriage to Paul Koch at the United Church of Christ in Larchwood.  They made their home on a farm near Larchwood.  Sherry enjoyed working and helping out on the farm in many ways.  She was extremely organized.  She was an excellent baker and cook, a caretaker for many and enjoyed camping, campfires, riding motorcycle and spending time with her grandchildren.     She is survived by her husband, Paul of Larchwood, IA; son, David Barnes of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Andrea (Nick Harris) Barnes of Sioux Falls, SD; mother, Barb Dittmar of East Moline, IL; thirteen grandchildren; siblings, Sandy (Lon) Rogers of Port Byron, IL; Jo (Fred) Friend of Colona, IL; Marcy Aeilts of Erie, IL; Don Miller of Grants Pass, OR; Doug (Cheryl) Miller of Ohatchee, AL and DJ Miller of Arlington, VA.     Sherry was preceded in death by her father and sister, Cindy.
