Ezra Knobloch

Rock Rapids, IA        Ezra “Butch” Knobloch, age 89 of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA.             Visitation will be Sunday, April 9th with family present from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester, IA.      Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, April 10th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church on Monday morning.      Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Lester, IA.        In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Knobloch family for later designation.        Ezra Jacob was born September 12, 1927 near Alvord, Iowa, the son of Ernst and Caroline (Feucht) Knobloch. Ezra’s mother died when he was four. His father then married Mary Moser, who became a very special mother to him. He attended the Logan Township #5 School through the 8th grade. After his education, he remained with his family helping with the day to day operation of the family farm. He was baptized on July 3, 1949 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA.        On July 26, 1959 Ezra was united in marriage to Marie Rumbold in Princeville, IL. The couple lived and farmed near Alvord, IA most of their lives. Six children were blessed to this union. In 1995, Ezra and Marie retired and moved to Inwood, IA. In February of 2012 they moved to Premier Estates in Rock Rapids, IA.        Ezra was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. He was an avid reader and enjoyed visiting with everyone. He had a great appreciation for his family and church family, especially enjoyed his grandchildren. This past Wednesday, April 5, 2017, Ezra died at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA at the age of 89.        Ezra is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie Knobloch of Rock Rapids, IA; six children, Myron Knobloch of Alvord, IA, Brenda Knobloch of Salem, Oregon, Gloria (Brad) Moser of Larchwood, IA, Melody (Gary) Schulz of Burlington, IA, Neil (June) Knobloch of Wolcott, IN and Lance (Kristi) Knobloch of Alvord, IA; twenty-seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; sister, Elsie Leuthold of Lester, IA; brother-in-law, Ervin Banwart of West Bend, IA; mother-in-law, Lucille Rumbold of Peoria, IL; sisters-in-law, Loretta Rumbold of Priceville, IL, Joyce (Glen) Metzger of Lester, IA, Marlene (James) Plattner of Princeville, IL; brother-in-law, Richard Graham of Peoria, IL; and many other extended family.        He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Caroline Knobloch; step-mother, Mary (Moser) Knobloch; five brothers, Clarence, Otto, Carl, Walter and Alvin; three sisters, Frieda Gerber, Clara Knobloch and Nettie Banwart; and a daughter-in-law, Beth Knobloch.
