Pearl Ann Korthals

George, IA        Pearl Korthals age 91 of George, IA died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in George, IA.        Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday April 12, 2017 at Bethel Reformed Church of rural Little Rock, IA with Rev. Matt Miller, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Reformed Cemetery.        Visitation will be Tuesday April 11th from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.        Pearl Ann Korthals was born June 2, 1925 at her parents home in Lyon County Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Bena (Huisman) DeBoer.  She grew up at her parents home in Lyon County Iowa where she attended country school.  Pearl was united in marriage to Ed Korthals on January 6, 1961 at Bethel Reformed Church at Ellsworth, MN.  They made their home on a farm south of George, Iowa.  Pearl was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and spent many hours caring for her family. She was a life long member of Bethel Reformed Church of rural Little Rock and an active member of the Dorcas Society and the RCWM for many years.       There were two things you could always count on from Pearl: a card for every occasion and a homemade pie on Sunday. She would often say: “It’s just not Sunday without pie.” Pearl enjoyed the outdoors. She would often take long walks around their farm and she enjoyed planting and tending to her flowers.        She is survived by her husband, Ed Korthals of George, IA; daughters, Becky (Doug) Stubbe of George, IA; and Rachel (Matt) Sullivan of Shelby Twp, MI; five grandchildren, Jason Stubbe of Sioux Falls, SD; Karlee (Hunter) Sieperda of George, IA; Noah, Caleb, and Levi Sullivan all of Shelby Twp, MI; two sisters, Betty (Virgil) Block of Adrian, MN and Joyce (Everon) Kanengieter of Little Rock, IA; and numerous beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other extended family members.      Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob & Bena DeBoer; granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Stubbe; sister, Alma Drenth; brothers, Elmer DeBoer, Kenneth DeBoer and an infant brother.
