Sibley, Iowa                Jeanette Groenenboom, age 93 of LeMars, IA, formerly of Sibley, IA died on Sunday May 21, 2017 at the Prime Living Apartments in LeMars, IA.        Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 24th, 2017 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, IA with Rev. Luke Schouten officiating.      A private family burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.        Visitation will be prior to the service Wednesday from 12:30 PM to time of service at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home in Sibley.        Jeanette Groenenboom, age 93, passed away on May 21, 2017 at her home in LeMars, IA. She was born August 17, 1923, on a farm near Steen, MN the daughter of William and Minnie (Bakker) Hoekert. She grew up in Steen where she attended country school. On June 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Garret Van Wettering. To this union, four boys were born and the family lived in Sibley, IA. On June 26, 1962 Garret passed away. She later married Ed Borgman on June 1, 1965. Ed passed away in September of 1980. Jeanette was then united in marriage to Norman Groenenboom on September 6, 1985. Norman passed away on May 27, 2010.        Jeanette was a member of First Reformed Church in Sibley. She enjoyed the beauty of flowers very much, inside as well as outside her home. Jeanette also enjoyed baking. She would make sure there were plenty of cookies ready when company stopped by. You could find Jeanette reading or doing needlepoint while listening to music by Guy Lombardo or Lawrence Welk. Jeanette always started her days with devotions and then exercise. In 2011 and after Norman’s death, Jeanette moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living Apartments in Sheldon, IA and later in 2014 moved to Prime Living Apartments in LeMars, IA to be closer to family. Jeanette will be greatly missed.        She is survived by her sons, Bill (Teri) Van Wettering of Spencer, IA, Andrew (Debra) Van Wettering of Dundee, MN, Gene (Kelli) Van Wettering of LeMars, IA, and Greg (Patty) James of Grand Junction, CO; stepson, Dennis (Carol) Groenenboom of Naperville, IL; stepdaughter, Lana Dubin of Coral Springs, FL; grandchildren, Hope (Darren) Bumgarner and their children, JD, Chloe and Nate all of Spencer, IA, Jill (Jerome) Fleming of Cameron, NC, Maggie (Corey) Hoffman and their son, Vince of LeMars, IA, Sam Van Wettering of West Des Moines, IA, Sadie Arens and Sophie Arens both of North Liberty, IA, Jake Arens of LeMars, IA; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.        Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, William and Minnie Hoekert, three husbands, Gerrit Van Wettering, Ed Borgman, and Norman Groenenboom; brother, Henry Hoekert; sisters, Jessie Olivier and Connie Groen.
