Sibley, IA Ercell Marco age 85 of Sibley, IA died Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, IA. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Sibley, with Reverend Larry Laskie officiating. Burial will follow at the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. Visitation will be Monday, May29th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. In lieu of flower family prefers memorials be directed to: Kindred Hospice of Spirit Lake, IA. Ercell Mae Luitjens Marco was born November 2, 1931 in Little Rock, Iowa, the daughter of William and Anna (VanGelderen) Luitjens. Ercell graduated with the class of 1951 at Little Rock High School. After graduation, she began working at Sibley State Bank, starting as a teller/bookkeeper and worked her way up to being Vice President and Cashier. She retired on August 31, 1984, after working in the banking field for 33 ½ years. On July 31, 1965, Ercell was united in marriage to Robert L. Marco in Sioux City, IA. The couple made their home in Sibley, until moving to the farm in 1980. Bob & Ercell enjoyed farming together. They also enjoyed taking their 5th wheel camper to Blue Grass Festivals and meeting up with friends to enjoy the music. After retiring from farming in 1984, they wintered for the next 30 years at Trophy Gardens RV Park in Alamo, TX. Due to declining health, they moved to Heartwood Heights in 2014 and to Country View Manor Nursing Home in June of 2016. After Bob’s death on December 30, 2016, Ercell’s health declined quickly. Ercell passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Country View Manor in Sibley. She is survived by her sister, Wilma Hatting of Sibley, IA; brother, Robert (wife Joan) Luitjens of George, IA; brothers-in-law, Dan (wife Lois) Marco of Sibley, IA and Paul (wife Leona) Marco of Bigelow, MN; sisters-in-law, Frances Prazen of Columbus, NE and Kathleen Babcock of Baytown, TX; and many other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Marco; parents, William and Anna Luitjens; parents-in-law, Eugene and Catherine Marco; sister-in-law, Mary Jean Bowers; and brothers-in-law, Merle and Elden Prazen.
